India Mahdavi Brings Her Signature Style to a Connecticut Country Home

Mixing modern furnishings and high-impact art, designer India Mahdavi brings sophisticated flair to a family’s rural Connecticut estate.

Four years ago interior designer India Mahdavi was working in her Paris office when she received a surprising call from longtime clients. The husband and wife, based in London, phoned to say that they had just purchased a house on 150 acres in Litchfield County, Connecticut. It was not to be a vacation home, as one might expect, but rather their primary residence—an epic move for the couple, considering how accustomed they and their young children were to city living. "I wanted to hear the sound of running water and feel the earth beneath my feet," says the husband, who, after overseeing several successful businesses, was craving a more tranquil life.
